Project and Purpose
In class students learned the definition of responsible decision making. Students played a game called “Zones of Comfort” where they had to think about and discuss various decisions they might have to make.
Responsible Decision Making is one of the five major competencies, or building blocks, of social emotional learning. Learning to make decisions responsibly helps young children navigate socially as they develop relationships and personal agency. Even at young ages it is important to practice decision making skills, not just in completing tasks but being able to consider how their decisions affect themselves and others. This lesson introduces building the competency of responsible decision making.

In this lesson students will learn about Responsible Decision-Making, the ability to make caring and constructive choices about personal behavior and social interactions across diverse situations.
Format
This 25–35 minute lesson is designed for flexibility. It can be taught in one day or over the course of a week.
